Susanne M. Rademacher

Susanne May Rademacher, 89, of Grand Ledge, passed away on March 29, after a brief illness. During her last days she was surrounded by her family and comforted by their constant vigil. Susanne was born on October 2, 1935, to Mark and Erma (Burman) Judson of Grand Ledge, and graduated from Grand Ledge High School in 1953. Though she was an only child, she gained 8 siblings (in-law) when she married Edward L. Rademacher on June 26, 1953 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pewamo, MI. Sue was deeply supportive of her children's numerous activities and was also active in them. She was a : 4-H leader, a member of the St. Michael's Altar Society, member of the church choir, the RCIA program, organist for Sunday Masses, and a prayer partner at St. Michael’s school, and Relay for Life.To the benefit of many, she also displayed her tasty talent as a scratch pie maker, and a skilled knitter. Over the years, she baked hundreds of pies for family gatherings and hundreds for fundraisers and charity. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the beneficiaries of numerous knitted gowns and blankets. Keepsakes to be forever cherished. As the years progressed, Sue spent many hours reading and enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s activities. Sue was employed by: Montgomery Wards Department Store, Mervyn’s, and was a switchboard operator for the State of Michigan. She will be remembered for her kind heart, pleasant disposition, sense of community, and devotion to family. Sue is survived by her children: Michael (Nancy) Rademacher, Mark (Tammie) Rademacher, D’Anne (Robert) Golub, Julie (Patrick) Brown, John (Kathleen) Rademacher, Grandchildren - Jamie (Jeff) Carver, Tim Kolmodin, Amy Rademacher, Corinne Rademacher, Katie (Andy) Helfmann, Sarah Mokma, Becky Golub, Elizabeth (Brandon) Grady, Scott (Alayna) Brown, Skyler Rademacher, MacKenzie Rademacher, Blake Rademacher. Great grandchildren- Julian and Brooklynn Kolmodin, Nicholas and Christopher Helfmann. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years; Edward Rademacher (2004), Granddaughters Allison Rademacher (2020), Stacey Kolmodin (2023), grandson Lance Mokma (2022). Visitation will be Sunday, April 6, from 12PM to 8PM, at Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, 406 N. Bridge St. A rosary will be offered at 2PM, and a Time of Remembrance from 2:30 to 3pm. Visitation on Monday, April 7, will be 10 to 11AM, with an 11AM funeral Mass at St. Michael Catholic Church, 345 Edwards, Grand Ledge.
