Sue Ann Barker

Sue Ann Barker of Grand Ledge, Michigan, passed away on January 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 23, 1954, in St. Johns, Michigan, to the late Mervin and Patricia (Horn) Chamberlain, Sue graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School in the Class of 1972. On September 10, 1983, she married her beloved husband, Richard Barker, after a wonderful blind date, and together they created a nurturing home filled with love. As a devoted homemaker and mother, her family was always at the forefront of her mind. She cherished every moment spent with her children, Michael and Megan, and continued to as a loving grandmother to Kayleigh and Christopher, and numerous grandpets. She always found time to support her children and grandchildren in all their activities like band, sports, and dancing, cheering them on with her bright smile and warm heart, and vocally where appropriate. Sue is survived by her husband, Richard; her son, Michael; her daughter-in-law, Karen Burke; her daughter, Megan Joslyn; her son-in-law, John Joslyn; and her grandchildren, Kayleigh and Christopher Joslyn; her sister, Kay Green; her brother-in-law, Bill Green; her nieces, Julie Minott, Ray (Alyson) Green;. Sue is also survived by her extended family, including her brothers-in-law, Jim (Tammie) Barker and sisters-in-law, Betty (Arnoldo) Martinez and Julie Barker, who will miss her dearly. Sue was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Chamberlain, and brothers-in-law, Don and Larry Barker. A memorial service will be held to honor Sue's life and legacy on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 12-1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Grand Ledge High School Band or the Capital Area Humane Society, organizations that reflected Sue's love of the joy that those organizations brought to her and others, and for her love of animals. Sue Ann Barker will be remembered for her warmth, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family.
