Ronald G. Traill

Ronald G. Traill, of Grand Ledge, passed away May 12, 2010 at the age of 74 after a courageous battle with cancer. Ron was born March 21, 1936 in Lansing, MI and grew up in Holt, MI. A 1954 graduate of St. Maryâ€™s High school in Lansing, Ron had a 38-year career with General Motors, which started at GMI and ended with his retirement from Oldsmobile as Superintendent of Facilities Engineering in 1992. Ron was a much-respected co-worker and supervisor, but his devotion was to his family and friends. He enjoyed a full retirement, dividing his time between Gulf Shores, Alabama and his home in Grand Ledge. You could find him on the golf course, playing cards with friends, or working in his beautiful yard. Ron served God and others as a member of St. Michaelâ€™s Catholic Church in Grand Ledge for 37 years. Currently, he is an active member of St. Gerard Catholic Church where he continued to give of himself and his time. Ronâ€™s generous spirit and love for life will live on through those who survive him: his soul mate and wife of 53 years, Eunice. His children Dr. Mark (Hope) Traill, of Rockford, IL and Michelle (Kevin) Traill-Crosser of Lansing, MI and grandchildren Elizabeth (Stephen) Spierdowis of Rockford, IL, Anthony Traill of Minneapolis, MN, Nicholas, Scottie & Madison Crosser of Lansing, MI were always a constant source of pride. The smile of his great-granddaughter, Isabella Spierdowis brought him great joy. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Traill and brothers Robert (Lois) Traill, Richard (Carmen) Traill, Phillip (Judy) Traill, Michael (Binnie) Traill, by sister-in-law Laura Traill, by brother and sister-in-laws Fred, Mary and John Sova and by numerous nieces and nephews. Those who have predeceased him, his parents Helen and Clarence Traill, his brother Gerald Traill and his nephew Phillip Traill lovingly await him. Ron will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched. In memory of Ron donations may be made to Lansing Catholic High School or to the charity of your choice. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, May 15, 2010, 11:00 am at St. Gerard Catholic Church, Lansing with The Reverend Fr. John P. Klein, Celebrant. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lansing. The family will receive friends Friday 2-4:00 pm and 6-8:00 pm with a Rosary prayed at 7:30 pm at the Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home
