Raymond George Plunkett

Raymond George Plunkett of Grand Ledge passed away June 3, 2023. Ray was born August 19, 1940 in Lansing, Michigan to the late Edward and Aurelia (Motz) Plunkett. He graduated from Grand Ledge High School Class of 1958 and worked for the State of Michigan Department of Transportation as an Engineer, retiring after 35 years plus. Ray was a longtime faithful member of St. Michael Parish where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and Usher. He was a Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Richard Council 788. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, grilling and bird watching at the feeder he always kept full. The family would like to thank the staff at Regency at Lansing West for the wonderful care and support they provided Ray or as some of them called him “Yar”. He is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Rosemary (Stump); children, Brenda L. (Mark) Anderson-Newhof, Susan L. (Dr. Jason) Hollady, Lori R. (Matt) Randall; grandchildren, Dylan (Kirsten) Anderson, Logan Anderson, Danielle Williams, Mackenzie and Jake Randall; great grandson, Lachlan Anderson; siblings, Dale (Marion) Plunkett, Marilyn (Ken) Sohn, Shirley (Stan) Smith; Pat (Mike) Thelen and Lynda Plunkett; brothers-in-law, Jerry Gunn and Bud Thelen. Ray was preceded in death by son-in-law, Jerry Williams; sisters, Caroline Gunn and Eileen Thelen; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don (Jane) Plunkett, Pete Plunkett, Phil (Irene) Plunkett and Gordon (Bonnie) Plunkett. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 8, 2023, 11:00 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church, Grand Ledge by Father James Eisele. Rite of Committal will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Grand Ledge. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:30 PM at the Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, Grand Ledge and Thursday at the church from 10-11:00 AM.
