Judith Marie Farnsworth

Judith Marie Gingell Farnsworth Went to be with her heavenly father on June 5, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving family. Judith was 81 years old. She was born on May 21, 1942, the daughter of the late Warren and Florence (Eckel) Gingell. Judith married Leon on June 8, 1963 and they were married for 59 years and 363 days (so close to 60 years). They raised a beautiful family together. She worked as an elementary teacher for Fowler Public Schools for 25 years. She then went on to work as a Principal at Maple Valley Fuller Elementary Schools for 4 years. Judy loved teaching and gave 100% to her students and their families. She was a teachers teacher. She was also known as a legendary educator in her field. Judy had a sincere Love for her Lord Jesus Christ. She taught Sunday School, Children’s Church, Vacation Bible School, and played the organ for many years. She volunteered at Camp Barakel and worked with the Maranatha Writers Conference. Judy loved to help others. Judy was great organizer and go getter. She was a Girl Scout Leader, coached Basketball and Softball, and was always an avid sports mom for her kids. Judy loved to play the piano and organ. She did crafts, helped organize school events and scrapbooked. She also was a wonderful writer. Judy loved her Barney deeply. They took many trips over the years and loved sitting on the porch and watching the birds and squirrels in their retirement years. Judy also loved her family. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren. She loved baking, exploring and playing games with them. Judy will be greatly missed by all. Judith is survived by her loving husband Leon (Barney) Farnsworth, by her daughter Deborah, her son Edwin (Jill) and Grandchildren Julie (Noah) Matthysse, Jared, Jenny Farnsworth, and great-granddaughter Alethea Matthysse, and brother Stuart (Ann) Gingell of Lapeer. A Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, June 12, 2023, 3:00 p.m. at Grace Bible Church, 1000 S. Canal Road, Lansing, Michigan 48917 with Pastor Tad Jameson, officiating. A private family interment will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home on Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 2-5:00 p.m. and Monday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. The family extends its thanks to the health care professionals at McLaren of Greater Lansing and Regency West and Heart to Heart Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Judy and the family.
