Bradley Dale Shimmons

Bradley Dale Shimmons, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, will be celebrated for his vibrant life as he entered the arms of the Lord on December 23, 2025. Born on August 17, 1969, in Jackson, Michigan, Brad was the cherished son of the late Timothy and Donna (Cummings) Shimmons and grew up in a loving family that laid the foundation for his compassionate spirit. A proud member of the Class of 1987, Brad graduated from Cheboygan High School before pursuing an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice. He dedicated many years of service as a corrections officer with the State of Michigan, notably at the Cassidy Lake Facility, where he positively influenced the lives of many through his dedication and professionalism. Brad's commitment to his church community at Mount Hope Church was profound, providing invaluable insights to the security team there and showcasing his unwavering dedication to keeping others safe. His adventurous spirit was evident in his love for the outdoors-where he thrived on hunting, riding quads, and collecting and shooting guns. One of his proudest achievements was breeding and training Belgian Malinois in a testament to his passion for dogs and training. Brad is survived by his beloved wife, Kristina Shimmons; his son Jeffrey, and daughter-in-law Tammy Shimmons; his daughter Elaine Buenger, and son-in-law Jacob Buenger; his son Joshua Shimmons; his step-children, Jordan Le'Lievre, Choei and Violet Gullberg and his cherished grandchildren, Wyatt, Xander, Mo, Adaline Shimmons, and Elijah Buenger. He is also survived by his brother Paul Shimmons and sister-in-law Jennifer Shimmons, his half-sister, Joanna Shimmons, many nieces and nephews along with a wide circle of friends and community members who will deeply miss his kindness and infectious laughter. He was preceded in death by his father, Timothy Shimmons and his mother and step-father, Russell and Donna Mealoy. A celebration of Brad's life will take place on Monday, January 5, 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Mount Hope Church, 202 S. Creyts Road, Lansing, MI 48917 with Pastor Kevin Berry, officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Monday one hour prior to the service from 11-12:00 PM. The Mount Hope Church family will host a luncheon immediately following the conclusion of the service. His family invites all who knew and loved him to come together to honor his legacy, share memories, and reflect on the joy he brought to their lives.
