Violet May Allen

May 22, 1958 - June 4, 2017

Violet May Allen of Brighton formerly of the Lansing passed away June 4, 2017 as the result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident that occurred fifteen years ago. Violet was born May 22, 1958 in Lansing, Michigan to Wilbur L. and Viola M. (Prosser) Summerfield. After Violet’s accident she was cared for at WillowBrook in Brighton. The family would like to thank the staff at WillowBrook for the wonderful dedicated care they provided for Violet. The staff and residents became Violet’s family and they will miss her dearly. Violet had numerous difficulties during her childhood and as she became a young women but she was always known for her smile and the ease at which people felt that they could love her . She is survived by her father, Wilbur Summerfield; mother, Viola M. Coffey; sister, Wendy (Dan) Ockert; special friends, Joan Smith and Lynn D’Orio. Lynn had been a lifelong friend who helped and supported Violet through many challenges. She is also survived by 7 more sisters and 2 brothers. A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 8, 2017, 4:30 p.m. at the Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, Grand Ledge with Pastor Danny P. Stoneham of Capitol City Church of God.
