Thomas Eugene VanDerSteen

Thomas E. VanDerSteen of Grand Ledge passed away February 26, 2022.Tom was born December 29, 1930 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to the late Paul and Henrietta (VanDenHauvel) VanDerSteen. He graduated from Grand Ledge High School Class of 1949 and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force. Tom was a life member of the American Legion, VFW and AMVETS. He was a USPS Mail Carrier in Grand Ledge. After retirement, Tom moved near Stanton and lived on Clifford Lake and enjoyed wintering in Brooksville, Florida. He is survived by his sons, Lynn, Craig (Diane); daughter, Monica (Gary) Trieweiler; 14 Grand Children; 15 Great Grandchildren with two on the way; stepchildren, Cynthia (Thomas) Courtright, Timothy (Joellyn) Malmquist, Michael (Jennifer) Malmquist; stepdaughter-in-law, Shelly Malmquist; sisters, Eileen Dick and Lorraine Rogers. Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Mickey on August 17, 2017; step-son, Jeffrey Malmquist; brothers, Norbert and Ray VanDerSteen and stepdaughter-in-law, Joellyn Malmquist. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2022, 11:00am at the Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8:00pm and Wednesday from 10-11:00am. Memorial contributions in Tom’s name may be given to the American Legion Cole-Briggs Post 48, 731 N. Clinton Street, Grand Ledge, Michigan 48837.
