Ronny Lee Thornton

February 5, 1948 - December 5, 2021

Ronny Lee Thornton of Grand Ledge went to be with the Lord on December 5, 2021. Ron was born February 5, 1948 in St. Johns, Michigan to the late Roy and Ila (Spiegel) Thornton. He graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School Class of 1966 and went on to attend barber school in Flint. He owned and operated Ron’s Barbershop and was a barber for over 55 years. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing with his friends. He also had a love for horses and traveled with his wife horseback riding all over the country and through those many trips made some wonderful lifelong friends. He is survived by his wife of over 29 years, Kathy (Sealy); daughters, Darla (Dana) Rice and Denise Thornton; step-son, Steven Holwerda; grandchildren, Dana Isabelle Rice, Kaden and Vivi Thornton; sisters, Kayla (Ron) Tipton and Judy (Ron) Newman; sister-in-law, Carolyn Thornton along with several nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by brother, Larry Thornton. A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021, 12:00 pm at the Community Baptist Church, 7832 W. Mt. Hope Highway, Grand Ledge, Michigan 48837 with The Reverend Timothy W. Jackson, officiating. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8:00 pm at the Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, Grand Ledge and at the church Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Ron especially enjoyed sponsoring children to attend Christian camp and the family would like you to honor Ron’s memory by directing memorial contributions to Camp CoBeAc, C/O Community Baptist Church (https://www.osvhub.com/communitybaptistlansing/funds/other).
