April 11, 1959 - December 15, 2021
Lori Lynn Cantrell, 62, of Eagle, MI, went to sleep in the arms of Jesus on December 15th, 2021. Lori would want all who read this to rejoice for her! She’d want you to know God has blessed her with a beautiful life. One full of the love of her family, rich relationships with lifelong friends, freshly baked bread, books (and more books), worldwide travel adventures, apple pie and veggie-chicken pot pie (yum!), and almost more memories than one lifetime can hold. And this would include her choice of professions; travel agent and librarian - one which gave her many exciting world adventures, the other which allowed her to share her passion for books with others. She’d also want you to know how peacefully she passed. Jesus allowed her to be placed in a coma while the worst part of her illness set in, no doubt dreaming of His soon coming when He will call her by name and awaken her to an eternity with those Lori cared about so much, especially her mom. Over the course of her 62 years, Lori experienced the heights of pure joy and depths of great loss and suffering. Yet through it all, she never lost her smile, her passion for her children, or her witness to the amazing love of Jesus. Best known for her small stature, Lori continually amazed (and amused) people by her vast knowledge on just about everything (have you ever tried debating her…..?), her great love for books, her stubbornness and her steadfast love for those around her. Her fierce love for her children, Vincent and Sierra, was clearly evidenced by the many years and abundant effort she put into homeschooling them (complete with field trips, and even making a “real” igloo). Stepping outside of her introverted world, Lori was president of her senior class, and of course valedictorian as well. Even after Lori lost her sight and was confined to her home, she continued to bless her friends and family by praying for them very purposefully, and with kind words when they called. That was simply the kind of person, daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend that she was. Lori was preceded in death by her mother, Jeanette Gleason Tuttle; and her grandparents, Roland & Muriel Ivey and Loren & Idella Gleason. She is survived by her husband, Vince Cantrell; son, Vincent Cantrell (Tabitha Cantrell); daughter, Sierra Cantrell; father, Bryce Ivey; sister Lyndi French (Steve French); mother-in-law, Gloria Cantrell; brothers-in-law, Will Cantrell and Mark Cantrell (Faye Cantrell); and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be forthcoming; time and place will be announced. Arrangements by the Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, Grand Ledge.
