September 13, 1957 - January 21, 2020
Linda Marie Skoog-Williams, 62, of Charlotte, passed away early in the evening on January 21st in Lansing, MI with her Husband and other family by her side. Linda had been diagnosed with a very aggressive and fast spreading cancer just several weeks before. Linda was born in Detroit, MI in 1957, graduated from Fraser High School in 1975 and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State University. Linda enjoyed a long career with the Michigan Department of Corrections and retired in 2012. After retirement, Linda volunteered at the Capital Area Response Effort in Lansing, counseling and offering support to survivors of domestic violence. On her birthday, that same year, Linda had her first date with Mark L. Williams, the man she would come to proudly describe as “the love of her life”. Mark was retired from General Motors. Neither being anywhere near young and impulsive, Linda and Mark took their time with the relationship, but the compatibility and the happiness they brought each other, soon became very apparent. Linda and Mark Married May 18, 2019 in a small, intimate ceremony in Charlotte, MI with close friends and family present. Linda was preceded in death by her father, William Skoog in 2019 and is survived by her mother, Irene Skoog; her sister, Debbie (Ronald) Pettit; two nephews, Eric Pettit and William (Brittney) Pettit; great niece, Eliza Irene Pettit; cousin, Jackie Krentz ; her husband, Mark L. Williams; stepson, Mark L. Williams II; grandchildren, Brianna and Raeann Williams; Sister-In-law, Carol (Michael) Fitts; niece, Nicole Cary; nephew, Joe (Janessa) Vara; great nieces and nephews, Anthony, Angelyn, Jillian and Chase Vara. Linda was a fun loving, kind and generous woman, often caring for others before herself. She also loved animals. Linda was a loyal friend and a reliable, trustworthy co-worker. Linda enjoyed crafts, scrap-booking, gardening, travel and shopping resale stores (She called them junk shops). Linda could always find the positive side of any situation and always saw the best in people around her. Her loving nature, sense of humor and warm smile will be sorely missed. A private family memorial service will be held. Arrangements by the Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, Grand Ledge.
