December 27, 1948 - August 5, 2021
Linda M Gallimore Linda Gallimore, 72 of Eagle MI passed away unexpectedly August 5, 2021 due to sudden breathing complications [not covid] in the emergency room. She is survived by her husband Jay Gallimore, daughter Alicia Weber and son Matthew Gallimore and one sister Brenda Thoresen. One sister Dr. Arlene Martone is deceased. She was born, second of three daughters, to the late Albert and Lucia Martone in Fletcher N.C. She received her high school diploma from Fletcher Academy and later her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from what is now Southern Adventist University. Later she attended Chapel Hill N.C. where she fulfilled the academic requirements which qualified her to sit for the CPA exam and become a CPA. Besides being a great support to her minister husband, she was a wonderful stay at home mother during the time the children were growing up. She filled their lives with a great deal of wholesome activities. Even family worship had a resource box from which all kinds of activities and songs would be drawn to make worship interesting. And they were always the passionate focus of her life and love. Outside of her dedication to her family and church, she had two major interests, children’s ministries and doing tax returns. She served for many years as the Children’s Ministries Coordinator for the Michigan Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. She well known for developing Vacation Bible School programs for the churches. Among her responsibilities was overseeing the children’s divisions at the annual Michigan Conference Camp Meeting. And also providing resources for the children’s Sabbath Schools in the local churches. And organizing the Conference VBS workshop for the churches. She was gifted with notable organizational and creative skills which in manifested themselves in all kinds of endeavors. She loved to be in the kitchen making something for family, friends and neighbors who will happily testify to her culinary abilities. Often the house was filled with aromas from baking bread to Italian pastas. And when harvest time rolled around, there was apple sauce, apple butter, peaches, jams, grape juice, vegetables being canned, frozen and dried for the winter. Much of which she gave away to friends and family. Many of her evenings were spent reading the Bible and the writings of Ellen G. White. She kept current on what was going on in the world and would often pass on information to her husband. In 2004 she lost her right lung to lung cancer, believed to have been caused by radon gas. She never smoked or drank alcohol. But the home where she grew up was checked, after her surgery, and found to be critically high in radon gas. Of course, in those days, no one was aware of the danger. We are very grateful to the Lord for giving her 17 additional years. The Lord enriched our lives with her abilities, wisdom, influence and love. We owe praise and thanksgiving to our Heavenly Father in gifting our home with her and granting all of us His grace and love. She was much loved and will be deeply missed. She will be laid to rest in a private family service on Thursday August 12 in the family plot in Wacousta Cemetery, Watertown Township, Clinton County, Michigan. The family is planning an open celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the Community Service Center and Food bank of the Grand Ledge Seventh-day Adventist Church, 4980 Burt Ave, Grand Ledge, MI 48837. Arrangements by the Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. Share your memories and condolences online at www.holihanatkin.com
