Floid V. Newman
August 29, 1924 - July 4, 2018
Floid V. Newman went to be with the Lord on July 4, 2018. Floid was a loving father, grandfather and uncle and will be missed by his family and many friends. He was born on August 29, 1924 in Riley Twp., Clinton Co. Michigan to the late Jacob and Inis (Brown) Newman. Floid proudly served his county in the United States Army during WW II. He worked some for the Grand Ledge Chair Factory and Motor Wheel but focused on what he loved to do and that was farming. Floid enjoyed working on the farm, which included dairy and crop farming, near where he was born and lived his entire life. He loved animals, was a faithful member of South Riley Bible Church and always looked forward to spending time with his family. He is survived by his children, Virgilene (Willard) Hilger, Earl (Cathy Coe), Floyd and Virgel (Carol) Newman; 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Braley) Newman; daughters, Geneva Hilger and Rose Ann Newman; brother, Lloyd Newman. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 28, 2018, 1:00 p.m. at South Riley Bible Church, DeWitt. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. Inurnment with military honors will follow at the City of DeWitt Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the South Riley Bible Church, 6517 W. Chadwick Road, DeWitt, Michigan 48820 or the Capital Area Human Society, 7095 W. Grand River Avenue, Lansing, Michigan 48906.
