Cornelia Loreene Dake, age 94, passed away at home on January 3, 2017. Loreene was married to Hervey Dake, and they lived most of their married life in Portland, Michigan. In 2005 she moved to Grayling, Michigan to be close to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Hervey (1991), her sister Elizabeth Lange, and her brother James Harold Fisher. Loreene is survived by her daughter Maureen Covault of Grayling (James deceased 2010) and son Kim Dake of Grayling; granddaughters, MacKenzie Feldpausch (Adam) of Dewitt, and Leah Penzien (Matt) of Winston Salem, NC; great granddaughtersCampbell Grace Penzien,Nora James Penzien, and Tess Maureen Feldpausch.Her 3 great granddaughters were very special to her, and she enjoyed their visits and seeing pictures of them. Loreene loved to watch the daily antics of squirrels and birds on the feeders in the yard and was the first to let us know when the feeders needs filling. She was an avid reader, and the Bible was “her book".Over the years she enjoyed participating in and often teaching Bible classes. She loved the Lord and his Word. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 9, 2016 at 1 pm at the Holihan-Atkin- Barclay Funeral Home in Grand Ledge with Pastor Marilyn Danielson of the Portland Congregational Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Portland City Cemetery. The family will receive visitors beginning at noon. Memorial gifts may be made to Portland Congregational Church 421 E. Bridge Street, Portland, Michigan 48875, in Loreene’s name.
