November 2, 1949 - November 6, 2021
Ann Mae McCarthy passed away November 6th, 2021 after a long battle with diabetes and all its complications. Ann was born November 2nd, 1949 in Traverse City, Michigan to Earl and Blanche (Gauthier) Plamondon. She graduated from Traverse City St. Francis High School and Grand Valley State University, when she met the love of her life, her husband John McCarthy. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. After raising her children, Ann worked in the Kindergarten at St. Gerard School for 23 years where she continued to demonstrate her love for all children and remembered each of those students by name until her death. Ann was a fan that loved all sports, especially her Detroit Tigers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, watching golf and the Olympics. She loved everything about her hometown of Traverse City especially lake views and anything with a cherry theme. But her biggest love was her family and she doted on them passionately. She is survived by her husband John, children Patrick (Kim) McCarthy, Renee (Charlie) McClafferty, Joseph (Cami) McCarthy and Tomas (Lindsey) McCarthy as well as her eight grandchildren, Lily, Luke, Laci, Leanna, Juniper, Zane, Asher and Eva; brother, Alfred (Judy) Plamondon, Mary Lee (Noel) Flohe, Jeanne (Robert) Berg, Paul (Wanda) Plamondon, Blanche Greene and Daniel (Dawn) Plamondon and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws F. Joseph and Viola McCarthy, her brother Ron Plamondon and his wife Carol, and brother-in-law James Greene. The family would like to thank the staffs at Fresenius Kidney Care Lansing and Fairview AFC for taking such good care of Ann. She made it easy to be cared for. Until her last breath she was always kind, compassionate, positive and interested in the lives and success of her caregivers. She will always be remembered by all who knew her for being attentive, sharing her kind words, warm hugs and her smile. A visitation will be held Friday, November 12th, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Grand Ledge from 6-9 pm with a rosary at 7:30 pm. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, November 13th at 11 am at St. Michael Catholic Church with a one hour visitation preceding the service, with Father Robert McGraw presiding. You may watch the funeral mass for Ann at 11:00 am Saturday on the St. Michael Church YouTube channel at this link: https://youtu.be/CJyjbWQFfM0.
