Wesley E. Wyskowski

Wesley Earl Wyskowski, of Grand Ledge, passed away on June 16, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on April 2, 1946, in Lansing, Michigan, Wes was the beloved son of the late Walter and Lela (Brown) Wyskowski. He attended East Lansing High School before serving his country in the United States Army. Wes worked in the skilled trades at General Motors, where he built a career marked by dedication and craftsmanship. A lifelong learner, he enjoyed taking classes at Lansing Community College and was always eager to expand his knowledge and explore new interests, such as being an avid coin collector. Family was at the heart of Wes's life. Summers were often spent fishing, mowing the lawn, and taking spur-of-the-moment camping trips throughout Michigan with his wife, sons, and later his granddaughters. He was an avid bowler for many years and especially enjoyed being on bowling teams with his oldest son, Allen. M Committed to his community, Wes volunteered as a Boy Scout leader for Troop 426 and coached floor hockey. While he was not known for endless patience or sugar-coating his opinions, he cared deeply about the people around him and was always willing to share his time, knowledge, and experience with others. Those who knew Wes will remember his love of reading and the special bond he shared with his granddaughters. He was never known to say no to his girls, especially when it came to trips to the bookstore, where he happily nurtured their love of reading and learning. Wes is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Carrie (Martenies) Wyskowski; his sons, Allen (Julie) Wyskowski and Gary Earl Wyskowski; his brother, Harvey (Sheila) Wyskowski; his cherished grandchildren, Jessica (Brock) Westen and Victoria (Matthew) Kreis; his beloved great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Hayden Kreis, Robert Follick, and Bryce and Rory Westen; his goddaughter, Cathy (Jeremy) Monroe; and many extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Wilhelmina Combs; and his brothers, Walter "Butch" Wyskowski and Lyle Wyskowski. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Gloria Miller Looking Glass Valley Park, 13385 S. Wacousta Road, Grand Ledge, Michigan 48837. Though he will be deeply missed, Wes's legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the friendships he cultivated, and the memories he created. Known by many as a lovable old grump whose bark was often worse than his bite, Wes showed his love through actions rather than words. Whether helping someone with a project, sharing what he knew, or spending time with those he cared about, his devotion to family and friends was always evident. Those who knew him best understood that beneath the gruff exterior was a man who loved deeply and gave generously of himself.
