Susan Lynne Lawens

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Susan Lynne Lawens on February 10, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on April 5, 1945 in Mount Pleasant, Michigan to the late Jack P. and Ione D. (Wright) Foster. Susan lived a full and vibrant life, where she cared for her family and created a warm home filled with love. A proud graduate of Sexton High School's Class of 1963, Susan later earned her Associate's Degree from Lansing Community College. She dedicated her time as a Secretary for the Waverly Public Schools, where she became a beloved figure in the community. Susan also worked for the Michigan AFL-CIO HRDI for 17 years as a Program Technician. Susan was a passionate homemaker, known for her incredible creativity and talents in cooking, sewing, crafting and scrapbooking. Her grandchildren were her shining light and pride. She loved and cherished each one deeply, pouring her heart into every moment spent with them. Susan was preceded in death by twin brother, Stephen Foster, brother Michael Foster, and special friend Mike Katauskas. Susan valued friendships and found joy in the company of those she loved. Anyone who met Susan couldn't help but love her. She always enjoyed seeing family and friends, who visited often and brightened her days. She is survived by her children, William Lawens Jr., Janine (Chad) Mills, Andrew (Alysa) Lawens, Trista (Ben) Strohaver, Mitchell (Kim) Lawens; 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, brother Martin (Michelle) Foster, sister-in-law Maryanna Foster along with many nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating Susan's life will take place at Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, Grand Ledge on February 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Susan will be remembered for her loving spirit, her many talents, and her unwavering love for her family. Her kind nature and joyful presence will be missed by all who knew her. In honor of Susan's memory, we welcome those who loved her to join us in celebrating a life well-lived.
