Rual L. Williams

Rual (Rick) L. Williams, 81, of Grand Ledge was called home the evening of March 12, 2007 after a long and courageous battle with MS and diabetes. Born in Dardanelle, Arkansas, March 16th, 1925, Rual was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a precious and trusted friend to all who knew him. Rual served proudly in the United States Army during the Korean conflict and later worked at Diamond Reo in Lansing, Michigan until its closing in 1975.He was preceded in death by his brother, Bennie and sisters, Wyona, Betty and Ruby. He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Nancy L . Williams (Todd) of Grand Ledge, his daughter, Carol Fitts (Michael) of Mulliken, his son Mark L. Williams (Nora) of Ionia, grandchildren, Joe (Janessa), Mark II (Casie), Niki (Jason), Scott (Brandi), Kevin, Katie, ten great grandchildren, brothers, Roger, Chester (Lois) and sisters, Jean (W.D.)and Cleo Smith as well as many nieces and nephews. Rual was steadfast in his faith in God and his son Jesus Christ and was always eager to share his faith and strength with others. He and his wife have been members of Capitol City Baptist Church in Lansing for over 35 years. Rual will always be remembered for his strength, courage, determination, faith and humor. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Even in his early fifties, as the MS began to take his physical strength, he never stopped fighting or lost his desire to do for himself and others. He always had time for his family and friends and was especially fond of his grandchildren. His love, his smile and his kind guiding hand will be dearly missed. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caring staff at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans for helping him lead a comfortable life in his final years. Rual will come to rest, on Friday March 16th. Services will be held at 1:00 PM at Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home in Grand Ledge with Reverend Roger Epps officiating and internment, with military honors to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4PM and 6-9PM on Thursday March 15th and two hours prior to the service on Friday.
