Richard Jay Davidson, affectionately known as Dick or Tex, peacefully departed this world on February 13, 2026, after a courageous and enduring battle following a stroke. He was born on June 27, 1941, in Lansing, Michigan, to the late Glen and Lucille (Scadin) Davidson. A lifelong resident of Michigan, Dick spent many fulfilling years in the automotive industry, retiring after a dedicated career with General Motors. Even as he transitioned into retirement, he embraced life with enthusiasm, finding joy in the great outdoors. With a spirited heart and an adventurous soul, he would often reminisce about his youthful days spent riding dirt bikes and racing along the snow-covered trails of Northern Michigan and Canada. In addition to his love for motorsports, Dick cherished the cherished memories tied to family traditions, particularly highlighted by the restoration of an old Chevy that had been a timeless piece of his family's legacy. This passion for cars was not merely a hobby but a testament to his connection with family and the past. Dick is survived by his loving companion and friend of over thirty years, Sally Bashore; cousins, Steven (Donna) Davidson, Allen (Wendy) Davidson, Janis (Jay) Bayley, and Susan Sellen who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. The family of Sally Bashore will also miss Dick and all of the wonderful time they spent together. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff of Fairview Adult Foster Care in Grand Ledge, who provided Dick with exceptional care and companionship. In his eyes, they were not just caregivers; they became a true extension of family. A private service to honor and celebrate Dick's remarkable life will be held later. In these moments of loss, we will find solace in the joyful memories and laughter that Dick brought into our lives. His spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
