Norman Louis Kempf

Norman Louis Kempf of Lansing passed away October 5, 2024 surrounded by his loving wife and children. Norm was born April 12, 1929 in Grand Ledge to the late Louis J. and Bernice B. (Forward) Kempf. He attended Grand Ledge High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the Navy during the Korean War. Norm retired, after many years of service, as a Substation Inspector for the Board of Water & Light. He was an avid NASCAR and baseball fan. Norm enjoyed bird watching, was interested and informed about politics, and supported his Union at the Board including serving as a Union Steward. Norm loved his family and was an especially proud grandpa and great-grandpa and his family will miss him dearly. He is survived by his wife of over sixty-nine years, Vivian (Tegels); children, Deborah (Don) Myers, Captain Douglas Kempf, Cindy (Sean) Douglas, Norman “Mark” Kempf, and Eric Kempf; grandsons, Chad (Melanie) and Peter Kempf; great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Victoria; brother, Robert (Matilde) Kempf. Norm was preceded in death by his siblings, Conrad, Alice Dolbee, Margaret Marrow, Helen Randt, Eloise Lawson, Harris, Evelyn Davis, and Roger. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, October 17, 2024, 10:30 AM at Cristo Rey Church by Father Vincent Richardson. Rite of Committal will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Grand Ledge. Visitation will be Wednesday at the Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home from 5-8:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:30 PM and Thursday at the Church from 9:30-10:30 AM.
