Nancy Ann Oliver

Nancy Ann Oliver (nee Demkovich), 75, of Grand Ledge peacefully went to her loving heavenly family on February 3, 2024. Nancy was born on January 15, 1949, in East Chicago, Indiana to Louis and Dorothy Demkovich. Nancy was an incredibly generous, tenacious loving woman, daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, friend, and community steward who always put others before herself. She taught us all about true unconditional love and truly did God’s work throughout her life. Nancy graduated from Whiting High School in 1967 and attended Indiana University until 1973. On August 29, 1970, she married Kevin Oliver whom she shared her life with for 53 years. Nancy started working for the Lake County Indiana Welfare Department in 1973 as a case worker. In Indiana, Nancy also worked for the Hammond Housing Authority and Visiting Nurses. In 1978, they welcomed their son, Nathaniel into their lives who was the most precious gift to Nancy. In 1985, Kevin and Nancy moved to Grand Ledge. Nancy began working for Catholic Social Services with their Refugees Service Program. In May 1989, she started working for Gateway Community Services as a manager for the Eaton Shelter program in Charlotte, MI until December 1996. In early 1997 until June 2011, she was the director of SIREN Eaton Shelter in Charlotte, MI where she helped change the lives of so many people. Professionally, Nancy’s greatest accomplishment was creating Opportunity House which provides transitional housing for domestic violence victims. A SIREN donor once called Nancy a relentless advocate. Nancy loved her community and was a member of St. Michael Parish in Grand Ledge, was a member of the Charlotte Lions Club, was the board secretary with Grand Ledge Emergency Assistance Program (GLEAP), and a member ABC Club in Grand Ledge. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Dorothy, and her sister, Diane Grady. She is survived by her beloved husband, Kevin Oliver of Grand Ledge, son, Nathaniel (Erica) of Grand Ledge, beloved sister, Dottie Demkovich of Naperville, IL, bonus daughter Barbie Pace (Scott) and 3 grandchildren, Alexander, Andrew and Aidan Pace of Portland, MI and many loved nieces, nephews, and friends.
