Kenneth Edward Cook

Kenneth Edward Cook, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026, at home in East Lansing, surrounded by his cherished family. Ken was born on August 1, 1940, in Pewamo, Michigan, to Joseph J. and Mabel H. (Dwyer) Cook. After graduating from Pewamo High School in 1958, Ken proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He then graduated from Michigan State University, where he developed a lifelong passion for all things Spartan. Ken built a successful career as a CPA and controller and worked at several companies, the last of which was Wolverton, but his time at an Adidas Distributer formed his lifelong loyalty to that that brand alone. Wherever he worked, he was known for his dedication and professionalism. A true sports fan and athlete, Ken had an unwavering loyalty to MSU, along with the Detroit Lions and Tigers. He had season tickets to Michigan State football since the 1970s, and he thoroughly enjoyed going to other Michigan State sporting events when he moved to East Lansing. He remained very active until his later years, playing softball until the age of 78, and still playing golf this year. He enjoyed traveling, both overseas and in the U.S., but his favorite places were the places he made a home for his family, including Detroit, Grand Ledge, and his retirement years at Canadian Lakes, his "up North." His love for reading, particularly history, added depth to his conversations and insights. And his mind and his recall were hallmarks that never left him. All who knew him knew him to be a true gentleman, with warmth, humor, and integrity. Ken leaves behind his loving wife of sixty-three years, Anne (Fedewa) Cook; his children, Thomas, Laura, David (Jessica), and Dennis (Denise); his grandchildren, Caitlyn, Alex, Adam, and Rachel; his sisters, Theresa Angwin and Karen Freauff; and his in-laws, Francis Fedewa, Ernie Fedewa, Margaret Coats, Bernadette Geahan, and Kenneth Fedewa along with many cherished nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his siblings, Louis Cook, Mary Boak, Julie Fedewa and his infant brother Jerry; sisters-in-law, Helen Randt, and Marie Feldpausch, and his daughter-in-law, Shantell Cook. Visitation will be Sunday, August 9 at the Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, 406 N. Bridge Street, Grand Ledge from 3:00 to 7:00 pm, with the Rosary at 6:00. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 10, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Road, East Lansing at 11:00, with visitation one hour before. A memorial luncheon will immediately follow the Mass at the One North Restaurant, 1310 Abbot Road, East Lansing.
