Jeffrey E. Jackson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeffrey E. Jackson, who left us on April 3, 2026. Born on June 1, 1947, in Cadillac, Michigan, Jeff lived a full and vibrant life. After graduating from Grand Ledge High School in 1965, he proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps, completing two tours in Vietnam as a Radio Telephone Operator (RTO). Jeff's favorite adage was "once a Marine, always a Marine." Following his honorary discharge in 1971, Jeff returned to Michigan State University to complete a Bachelor of Arts in History. Jeff enjoyed a successful career as a copy machine technician with Xerox, where he was known for his dedication and skill. After he retired from Xerox in 2002, Jeff became restless and went back to work, first as a security guard for Grand Ledge High School, then as a paraprofessional at Delta Center Elementary School. Outside of work, he cherished time with his family, especially during camping trips all over Michigan. Between 1984 and 1996, the Jackson family hosted eight exchange students and served as area representatives for Youth for Understanding. Since 2010, the Jacksons have spent their summers camping at Whispering Surf in Pentwater, where they created countless unforgettable memories. Jeff leaves behind his beloved wife of over 55 years Kathleen (Swanson), daughter Dr. Erika Jackson (Derek Dodson), and granddaughter Svea Dodson, as well as a close-knit family that includes his sister Cathy (Pat) Crotty, brother Steve (Janice) Jackson, and brother Mike (Teri) Marshall. He will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews and many friends who were lucky to know him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Eleanor (Cornell) Marshall. A funeral service celebrating Jeff's life will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. Interment with military honors will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Grand Ledge. There will be visitation Tuesday April 14, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Following the cemetery service, the family invites you to attend a catered luncheon at the Grand Ledge Opera House.
