Janice Maudlin

Janice Ann (VanBuhler) Maudlin died on May 2, 2025. She was a resident of Grand Ledge, MI. Janice was born in Detroit, MI on December 12, 1943 to Walter and Mildred VanBuhler and was the oldest of nine children. She grew up in Dearborn, MI, and graduated from Rosary High School in 1961. She went on to attend nursing school at St. Lawrence Nursing School where she became a registered nurse. She practiced nursing for over 20 years at St. Lawrence Hospital in Lansing, MI, most of which was spent on third shift in the Emergency Room. She then became the Director of Medical Services for Physicians Health Plan till 2002. After leaving PHP, she pursued her lifelong passion for exercise by opening 4 Curves fitness facilities throughout mid and eastern Michigan till her retirement. She worked long and hard to provide a good life for her family. She leaves behind all 8 younger siblings which includes Linda (Brian) Taylor of Cave Creek, AZ, Tom (Cindy) VanBuhler of Dexter, MI, Donna (Kim) Hillstrom of Hartland, MI, Mary Kay (Joe) Bell of West Branch, MI, Ann (George) Fischer of Frankenmuth, MI, Theresa (Jim) Kraft of Milford, MI, Connie (Mike) Lilley of Bloomfield Hills, MI, and Paul VanBuhler of South Lyon, MI. She is survived by her four children, James (Jimmy) of Hot Springs, SD, Lisa (Gregory) Atkinson of Morrice, MI, Janel (Scott) Sieffert of Howard City, MI, and Colleen Austin of Grand Ledge, MI. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren. Maya DeLuca of Springfield, MO, Korey (Jake) Mathers of St. Johns, MI, Taylor Perry of Morrice, MI, Karlie (Walter) Johnson of Morrice, MI, Tanner Atkinson of Morrice, MI, Alivia (Jordon) Waytovich of Portage, IN, Leah Sieffert of Howard City, MI, Carmen Austin (Jared Reed) of East Lansing, MI, and Colton Austin of Grand Ledge, MI. She is also survived by one great-grandson (Judson) and six great-granddaughters (Braelynn, Camilla, Kendall, Scottlyn, Andie and Oakley). Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joys! She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, James DeLuca & second husband, Lyle Maudlin. Along with her love of family, she was an avid walker and knitter. She would spend hours on end knitting blankets for charity & for her family. She could also be seen walking all over town. Throughout her life, she was a faithful Catholic, and would often do her rosary while walking. She attended St. Michael Church in Grand Ledge multiple times a week for many years. Visitation will take place on Saturday, May 31st from 10 am-12 pm at St. Michael Catholic Church located at 345 Edwards Street in Grand Ledge, MI, immediately followed by a Funeral Mass and luncheon in the fellowship hall.
