James Philip Krause

In Loving Memory of James Philip Krause, who was born August 20, 1952, passed away April 20, 2024 at the age of 71. James grew up in southern Minnesota, attended Lutheran Grade Schools, graduated from St. James High School, Bethany Lutheran College, and Minnesota State University, Mankato, Minnesota. A former shop teacher, James and his family moved to the greater Lansing area in 1996 where he then enjoyed a 20-year career as a self-proclaimed “Author and World Traveler” at Dart Container Corporation in Mason, Michigan. James was a devoted husband, uncle, and grandfather. Son of Edward and Marjorie (Lau) Krause, he is survived by his wife of 45 years, Beth (Appold) Krause, sons Matthew (Malgorzata), Aaron (Rachel), and Nathan (Maegan), brother Mark (Lynn) Krause, sister-in-law Patrice Appold, brother-in-law Rev. Robert (Elizabeth) Appold, Rev. Paul (Carrie) Appold, grandchildren Levi, Francesca, and Mason, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father and mother, as well as father and mother-in-law Robert C. and Alice Appold. James was a devoted follower of the Christian faith, which was the driving force behind his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for family and friends. James will fondly be remembered for his love of all things mechanical and passion for sharing his knowledge and odd bits of trivia with friends and neighbors. His life was as finely tuned as the engines with which he loved to tinker and when talking shop, he had a grin that could outshine any chrome bumper. Visitation will be held at Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, 406 N. Bridge St., Grand Ledge, MI 48837 on Monday, April 22, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm; as well as an hour before the service. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am followed by a luncheon at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 7910 W. St. Joe Hwy, Lansing MI 48917 on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. Memorial contributions may be given to Our Savior Lutheran Church and School.
