David A. Huson

David A. Huson of Grand Ledge, Age 64, admired husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend went peacefully to be with his Lord on November 12, 2009 after a long battle with prostate cancer. Born April 26, 1945 in Hamtramck, Michigan, David grew up in Big Rapids graduating from Morley-Stanwood High School. He served two years in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant E5. He went on to earn an Associates Degree from LCC and attended Aquinas College. Working in banking for forty plus years he spent twenty-five years at Michigan National Bank, ten years at Community First Bank, two years at Flagstar Bank and the past five years at Summit Community Bank. He was especially proud of the opportunity to join a team of friends and play a part in the launch of Summit Community Bank, viewing it as a once in a lifetime endeavor. He cared about people and was actively involved as a council member at Christ Lutheran Church and the Wacousta Lions Club. He especially loved the time he spent with family and friends at â€œthe cottageâ€ on Clifford Lake in Montcalm County where there was always a â€œprojectâ€ going on! He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Gertrude Huson as well as many special aunts, uncles and cousins. Surviving are his wife Julie, son Chad of Grand Ledge; Daughter, Kris (Ken) Shemanski of Saginaw, MI; daughter, Kenda (Mark) Gerber of Naples, FL; brother Robert Huson of Lakeland, FL; beloved grandchildren: Lauren, Rachel & Jason Huson; Nicholas, Connor & Alexa Szukhent; Brooke & Coleman Gerber and Stephanie & Nicole Shemanski; nieces & nephews: Aryn, Russell, Aires, Ethan and Kassidy Perkins; Roan (Paula) Huson; brother-in-law Paul (Juana) Perkins; mother-in-law Carol Perkins; former daughter and son-in-law Kris Huson and Troy Szukhent; first wife Linda Huson and many other close friends and relatives. David was passionate about encouraging all men to maintain prostate health by completing regular prostate cancer screening and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mid-Michigan Prostate Cancer Support Group of Sparrow Hospital 1215 E. The family would like to thank Sparrow Hospice Services for the wonderful support and care David received. His presence will remain in our hearts forever and we know that the lawns in heaven will have one of the best tending them! A funeral service will be held Monday, November 16, 2009, 11:00 AM at Christ Lutheran Church, Lansing with The Reverend David Thiele and The Reverend Zerit Yohannes, officiating.
