Dale B. Sawyer

Dale B. Sawyer of Lansing ascended to be with his Lord on June 27, 2016. He was born in Lansing, Michigan May 12, 1935 to the late Dale K. and Virginia M. (Walters) Sawyer. Dale attended Eastern High School, wrestled on the varsity team and graduated in 1953. He spent fourteen years in the Michigan Army National Guard 119th Artillery as a Master Sergeant of Fire Battery A Company. Dale was an licensed electrical contractor and former partner of Lansing Electrical Motors, retiring from the I.B.E.W, Local 665 after fifty-five years. He attended Midwestern Baptist College in Pontiac earning three graduate degrees. He served as an instructor, staff evangelist and Executive Board member for the school. He was the founder and pastor of Charity Baptist Church in Mason. After retiring from the pastorate, Dale became a faithful member and Staff Evangelist of the Community Baptist Church. Dale was an avid bowler for years and loved to golf. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn (Treadwell); daughters, Robbin Sawyer, Tracie (Sam) Bishop and Debra; grandchildren, Stephanie (Josh) Combs, Paul, James, Samantha, Seth, Luke and Tate; great grandchildren, Riley Jo, Jak, Carter and Maddy; sisters, Jeanne and Missy Sawyer. He was preceded in death by children Diane and Doug; brother, Jerry and sister, Sharon. Dale loved his Lord and was a faithful witness for Him wherever he went. His favorite bible verses were Romans 8:38-39. The family would like to give special thanks for dear friends Mike and Jessica Argyle along with the staff of Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care and support they provided Dale and his family. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 1, 2016, 11am at the Community Baptist Church, 7832 W. Mt. Hope Highway, Grand Ledge, Michigan 48837 with The Reverend Timothy W. Jackson, officiating.
