Pastor Charles Edwin Foerster

Pastor Charles Edwin Foerster, 64, was welcomed into Heaven on Resurrection Sunday, April 5, 2026. Born on September 29, 1961 in Saginaw, Michigan to Ivan and Irene (Kiselewicz) Foerster, Chuck was the sweet, funny, always-singing baby brother to Michael (Nancy) Foerster, James Foerster, Debra Strawbridge, and Linda (JR) Plomer. After several years as a chef and food services director, Chuck followed God’s call into ministry as a second career. During his internship at All Saints Lutheran Church in Hartland, he fell in love with and married Marilyn “Mary” (Vollmar) Foerster. They have shared in ministry almost 20 years together. Through the following years, he was a devoted, proud father to their six children: Amanda (Martin) Quinn, Morgan (Zac) Meier, Michael (Felicia) Lockwood, Anna (Joe) Bashore, Steven (Amanda Stapleton) Lockwood, and Katherine “Kaydee” Foerster, still at home. Charlie was also a devoted Grandpa/Papa/Opa to: Damien, Aubrie, Emily, Josie, Henry, Rosilyn, Olivia, Oliver, Elizabeth, Ivan, and Sophia. He also leaves behind treasured yellow labs, Fisher Forte and Winifred Mezzo Foerster. He was beloved of many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was predeceased by his Dad, Mom, and brother-in-law, Dr. David Strawbridge (and dogs Remy, Mandy, and Appa). First in his heart was God and the faith that led him to this point. Then, while he enjoyed singing, motorcycles, fishing, and hunting with his “Buck Bros,” he loved time with his family most of all. In his last address to his congregation, he reminded us that we can trust in God's faithfulness and care, no matter what, quoting, "All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well." Visitation will be from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Sunday, April 12, 2026 and from 9:30-10:30am on Monday, April 13, 2026 at the Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. Family and Friends are invited for “One Last Ride” as Chuck is taken by motorcycle on Monday, April 13, 2026 at 10:30am from the Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home to a full worship service with his faith family, beginning at 11:11am at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Grand Ledge with Pastor Dave Jahn presiding. A private graveside service will be held in the future with immediate family present, led by Pastor Rick Stieve.
