Bernadine Theresia Fedewa

Bernadine Theresia Fedewa of Grand Ledge, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister passed away November 4, 2024. Bernadine was born June 1, 1926, in Lansing to the late Herman and Josephine (Schaefer) Rademacher. She graduated high School from St. Mary Cathedral, Lansing, Class of 1944. Bernadine met her husband Robert (Bob) at a local barn dance where he and his friend Joe would break up girls sitting together. When the two noticed some young ladies, Joe told Bob “You take the little one, she is my cousin.” Sometime later Bob and Bernadine married, and Joe and Winnie also married. A longtime faithful member of St. Michael Parish in Grand Ledge, Bernadine enjoyed baking and sewing among other favorite pastimes. Her family (and extended family) constantly enjoys an array of homemade cookies, breads, and pies particularly her “famous” chocolate chips cookies and the family’s favorite cinnamon rolls that always graced the Christmas Eve table. The blessed Mother and holy family are very important to Bernadine. As are holidays and other special occasions where family were gathered. Bernadine always looked forward to spending time with her loving family. Her smiles and kisses will be greatly missed by all who know and love her. Bernadine is survived by her children: Mary Jane (David) Farrell, John (Ruth) Fedewa, Joseph Fedewa, Ann (Mark) Farrell, and Lee Ann (Jerry) Carpenter; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Bernadine was preceded in death by her parents, her adoring and loving husband Robert of 56 years, as well as all her siblings. A special thank you goes out to her son, Mark Farrell for taking such good care of Mom during her stay with you and Annie. During a transition period after a fall that ended her independent living situation. Mark took Mom under his wing and cared for her just like Pa would have done. A second special thank you goes out to her granddaughter, Myra Fedewa-Dayus for being the only place Grandma was satisfied to be, “If I ever have to go to a home, I want to be with Myra”. The family would like to thank the staff of Harvest Pointe at Thornapple Manor in Hastings for the wonderful care and support they provided for Bernadine for the past year and a half. And finally, we would like to thank the staff of Elara Caring Hospice for the dedication and care they give their patients. Bernie loves each and every one of you. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 11, 2024; St. Michael Catholic Church, Grand Ledge, Father James Eisele presiding.
