Angela Marie Pontius

Angela Marie Pontius, a truly vibrant soul whose light illuminated the lives of those around her, passed away peacefully in Ann Arbor on April 17, 2026. Born on June 25, 1997, in Lansing, Michigan, Angela was a cherished daughter of William J. and Donnalee M. (Doll) Pontius. She graduated from Grand Ledge High School in 2016 and went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Parks, and Leisure from Central Michigan University. Angela always had a passion for caring for others; this energy found a home at the Ann Arbor Public Schools, where she worked as a Nutritional Department Lead. Angela was an avid traveler, low-key softball player, a self-care guru, SpongeBob and reality TV show fan, and a thrift-shopping enthusiast. Her greatest joy, however, came from the time she spent with her family and friends, forming connections that will live on forever. Angela was best known for her unmatched optimism, stubbornness, supportiveness, cursed cars, work ethic, goofiness, and the ability to always be herself, no matter what. Angela's legacy will be carried forward by her parents, William and Donnalee Pontius; brother Joseph Pontius and his wife Ariel; sister Shelby Bauer and her husband Ken; grandmother Diane Pontius; her beloved nephew William Pontius and niece Ember Bauer; as well as so many friends and family members. The loss of Angela is felt deeply by all who knew her, and her spirit will live on in the hearts and actions of her loved ones. In remembrance of her remarkable life, a celebration will be held on May 9th, 11am-3pm, at Andy T's Barn in St. Johns. Angela's family invites her friends and community to gather together, celebrate her life, and share their cherished memories of her.
